I usually book excursions and tours through Get Your Guide, TripAdvisor, or Viator. Their review forums are really helpful for understanding what to expect from real travelers, and you can message tour operators within the apps

*Lately, Viator has been my favorite, because you get rewards from each booking to use toward future ones!

Likewise, Expedia and Booking.com let me compare multiple properties based on ratings and reviews from people who have actually stayed there.
