Things to Know Before You Go
Grenada's weather is warm year-round, and there are two distinct seasons: dry and wet. I've visited during the dry season, which runs from January to May. The wet or rainy season lasts from June to December each year, which overlaps with hurricane and mosquito season.
With bright sunshine and temperatures ranging from the high 70s to the mid 80s, I was most comfortable in natural fabrics and weaves like linen, cotton, and silk. Expect to sweat in synthetics like polyester or satin weaves.
There's no enforced dress code. You can be laid back, but be considerate and respectful. Your vacation may feel like an endless summer party, but people are working, children are going to school, etc., just like any other place on Earth, including where you come from. 😊
When traveling to this region, I always recommend packing in a specific way. Use my Caribbean vacation packing checklist!

What to Pack for Grenada
Hands-free Bags for convenience doing anything from souvenir shopping to chocolate tasting. I love this leather bum bag for a bit of polish and this water-resistant crossbody for adventures. And this travel backpack goes everywhere with me!
Insect repellent: I didn't get a single bite during the month of April, but if you're visiting for Spicemas in August or any other time during the rainy season, protect yourself from Grenada mosquitoes!
Lightweight Clothes: Pick natural fabrics to keep you cool. Coming from Houston's humid & hot weather, I still broke a sweat, so I recommend two outfit changes per day.
Outlet Adapter: If you're coming from the USA, the electrical outlets are different. You can bring a simple outlet converter or request one at your accommodation. Most all-inclusive hotels will have them.
Shoes: Grippy athletic shoes for hiking and rainforest tours, plus a pair of nice leather sandals for going out. And you'll want these $20 water shoes for visiting Grenada waterfalls and hot springs.
Sun Protection: Sunglasses, hats, and, of course, sunscreen. This mineral sunscreen never does me wrong, and the stick version is TSA-friendly and doesn't spill.
Swimwear: Bring a few suits that will carry you from the resort pool to the beach, to waterfall excursions. Include cover-up options and a swim cap if needed.
Waterproof Phone Case: This is a must if you plan to do any diving or snorkeling, like at the Underwater Sculpture Park, and want to get footage on your phone without ruining it. I've used this $10 case for years, and it still works like a charm!
What you bring will largely depend on what you plan to do. Use my list of things to do in Grenada to help guide you!
Essentials
Cash, especially if you plan to visit other parishes or hop over to Carriacou or Petit Martinique, because not every place will accept cards. As far as what currency to use in Grenada, Eastern Caribbean Dollars are accepted everywhere, and USD is widely accepted; just make sure your bills are not damaged or excessively worn.
Credit or debit card for larger purchases. I use my travel rewards credit card like a debit card and pay the balance off each month, so I don't incur interest fees AND rack up points for free flights, hotels, and more!
Passport: It generally must be valid and at least six months from expiration for US citizens. Visiting on a cruise ship? Check your cruise line's entry requirements and recommendations.
Power bank so you can be on the go all day without your phone dying. I'd hate for you to miss out on getting photos for Instagram because of a dead battery.
Toiletries, cosmetics, personal care items, and haircare products that you'd need at home, pared down into travel sizes--don't forget any medications and supplements!
Packing light doesn't have to mean skimping on your skincare routine. Here are my tips for packing beauty products in carry-on luggage!
What Not to Bring/Wear
Camouflage clothing of any color is prohibited for civilians--locals and visitors alike. Small items or accessories are generally fine, but I personally don't wear it and wouldn't risk it.
Unless you're traveling for a wedding or other formal/business event, your opportunities to comfortably wear high heels will be limited. Flat shoes or low heels are recommended, especially because Grenada is hilly.
Heavy fabrics like denim or corduroy. You won't need any outerwear with the exception of maybe a poncho for when it rains.
Costumes or clothes that feed into stereotypes should be avoided. As a tourist, I want to blend in while remaining true to my own personal style. There's simply no need to culturally appropriate on vacation...or any other time!
Review the Grenada Customs website for a full list of prohibited items.

Frequently Asked Questions
I recommend seeking out items unique to the location that you can't easily get anywhere else. In Grenada, that includes locally sourced spices, anything made with nutmeg, rum, chocolate, fabrics, art, and crafts.
