What to Know Before You Pack for Cozumel
Let me run through a few quick things that will impact what winds up in your suitcase. Cozumel weather is hot and humid year-round (think 70s to 90s Fahrenheit). And the UV index is strong, even on cloudy days.
The rainy seasons in Quintana Roo typically run from April to July and October to January. I first visited the island during late June/early July, which is one of the wettest times of the year, but the rain passed pretty quickly. Check the forecast as you pack, so you know what the weather's like.
Last but not least, the Isla de Cozumel's vibe is relaxed. You don't have to dress up, but I'm a chronic over-packer and over-dresser, so do what you want!
What you should wear depends on your intended activities. Use this list of things to do in Cozumel to plan that out first!

What to Wear
Accessories like jewelry, scarves, and small handbags will elevate your outfits without taking up space in your luggage. I recommend packing a hands-free bag like this water-resistant bum bag for activities, a dressier bag for evenings, and a backpack for excursions.
Active Wear, especially if you plan to partake in any cool excursions like horseback riding in Cozumel, ziplining, or ATVs.
Breezy Outfits made from natural fabrics like cotton and linen. It's hot and humid, so I recommend skipping the polyester pieces in favor of more breathable ones. Dresses, rompers, tees, shorts, and two-piece sets will carry you from breakfast on the beach through the whole day.
Flat Shoes, including sneakers and sandals, will be the most versatile and useful. I packed a pair of cute heels for a bougie dinner one night, but could have gotten away without them, to be honest. In any case, make sure the shoes you pack will wash easily and dry quickly.
Sunglasses and Hats to complete your looks and protect you from the UV rays. Grab this floating chain for your glasses so you won't lose them in the water!
Swimsuits and Cover-ups because, of course, you'll be hitting the beach! I recommend packing at least three swimsuits, so that you can always have a dry one in rotation. And swimsuits are light and easy to squeeze into even the most over-packed bag, right?

Packing List Essentials for a Trip to Cozumel
Insect Repellant because the mosquitoes in Cozumel don't play! Many restaurants and attractions provide bug spray, but I recommend bringing your own, too.
Cash, especially if you plan to venture off the beaten path and support small, local businesses on the island. Although USD is widely accepted, it's a good idea to exchange some for pesos.
Passport for any US citizens or travelers from outside Mexico, of course.
Power Bank to stay charged during full-day excursions!
What sunscreen to use in Cozumel? Use reef-safe sunscreen if you plan to snorkel or dive in Cozumel's beautiful reefs.
Reusable Water Bottle to stay hydrated on the go. Remember, it's pretty hot all year.
Travel Credit Card to earn points on every purchase. I use my Chase Sapphire rewards to book free flights, discounted stays, and more every year!
Waterproof Phone Case so you can get cute pictures around the pool or ocean without worrying about water damage. I've used this waterproof phone holder for over 10 years without issue!
Water Shoes to protect your feet. My $20 water shoes from Amazon have been around the world with me! They also come in handy when it rains.
What not to pack for Cozumel
Heavy jackets or thick fabrics like denim jeans aren't needed. You also won't need a plug converter coming from the US because the outlets at hotels, Airbnbs, etc. are already compatible.
My beach vacation packing list has all the items people forget and regret later. Check it twice!
